I hear it from every client I work with, "I don't have time to shop and cook my food!". I listen as my clients relay their hurried days to me and shake my head at how far we have come from appreciating what good clean whole foods and water can do for the body. As a C.H.E.K Certified Nutritional Life Coach and RKC instructor my challenge is to re-educate my clients to the importance of food and what it can and cannot do for you. Food can make you stronger and food or the lack of it (many people are malnourished) can make you weaker! To swing a kettlebell, gain attractive lean muscle mass, improve your digestion, mental clarity (you have to think to swing a bell!) and lose weight you need to eat! Think how many hours you spend driving to the gym and working out during the course of the week. For most of us its about 3-4 hours...maybe more. Most people never spend that much time in the kitchen or food shopping each week yet they continue to complain that they are not losing weight or feel an improved sense of well being. Understand that you will never achieve what you want to in terms of strength gains or see beautiful long term changes in your physique unless you are eating right FIRST! Those of you who have visited our studio have heard Darius say "it takes energy to make energy"! You cannot power a kettlebell off of a donut! Work on sticking to the following for improved results with your exercise program: 1.Eat according to your metabolic type. If you need to know more about metabolic typing and the wonderful things it can do for your body visit the healthexcel.com website and contact me so we can determine what your metabolic type is! 2.Drink water! Stop with the fruit juice, soda and other garbage drinks! Water is a wonderful way to detoxify the body. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day. Many of you are constipated because you are not drinking enough water. What to you think happens to your body if you walk around constipated most of the time? Toxins build up in your body similar to clogged pipes in a kitchen sink...water is your Drano so drink up and lay off all the sugar laced beverages that are sapping your energy and dehydrating you. 3. Make the time to shop and prepare your foods each week. No excuses! Shop for fresh whole foods and quality water stay away from fast food and processed foods, sugar and food additives. Nothing is more important than your health and if you feed your body crap the end result will be you look and feel like crap! 4. Re-Prioritize your budget! If you are spending money on junk food, eating out, soda, boxed cereal and alcohol you can put that money towards higher quality foods and water. It doesn't happen overnight but eating real food and high quality water along with proper rest and a good exercise program will help you improve strength gains, lean muscle mass, mental clarity and weight loss gains. Stop making excuses and make the time to shop prepare and EAT! By Christina Smith R.K.C., C.H.E.K. HLC2, MTA, ACE PT Check out this Paul Chek clip regarding Metabolic Typing.
